Cirque du Soleil 8th Annual "Run Away With The Circus" 5K Run & Walk
Cirque du Soleil 8th annual “run away with the circus†5k run and 1 mile walk was held Saturday, March 21, 2009. This year nearly 2,000 residents enjoyed the hosting Springs Preserve venue.
The yearly Las Vegas event has transformed from just an idea of Cirque du Soleil employees to a highly anticipated event that many Vegas Valley residents support.
This year the hosting venue was the Springs Preserve, a 180 acre national historic site which served as the original oasis of Las Vegas. The preserve includes 8-acres of botanical gardens and a series of walking trails. The 5K run and 1-mile walk took place in the beautiful trails.
Participants were able to experience the natural surroundings of the trails, win Cirque du Soleil show packages, Cirque performers photo opportunities and live entertainment. Stretching before the Las Vegas race was led by a “Zumanity†performer.
All paid participants in the run away with the circus was given admission to all Springs Preserve galleries and museums the day of the race.
As an incentive for pre-registration, the first 1,20 received one raffle ticket and a T-shirt. Las Vegas show packages including hotel, dinner and tickets to “KA,†“Oâ€, “CRISS ANGEL Believe,†“LOVE,†“Zumanity – The Sensual Side of Cirque du Soleil,” “Mystere†and tickets to the Springs Preserve.
The Grand Prize is a trip for four to Orlando including airfare, hotel accommodations, tickets to Cirque du Soleil’s “La Nouba” and passes to Walt Disney World.
Race day registration was at 7 a.m. with the 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk started at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start from Las Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman.
